Old School Field Lacrosse – Video

Great video from the 1976 and 1978 NCAA National Championship games.  In 1976, two undefeated teams, Maryland and Cornell, met in the final game.  It was a back and forth game that ended up in overtime.  Cornell would end up winning 16-13.  The 1978 game saw a Cornell team entering the game with a 42 game unbeaten streak that Johns Hopkins ended with a 13-8 win in the championship game.

When I watch the video I am extremely impressed with the way the ball is moved by these players.  It is apparent they are not playing with the huge pockets so many of today’s players use and the ball comes out quickly and on a rope.  It is great footage to see the talent on display 35 years ago.
