More field lacrosse video from the 1980s featuring Johns Hopkins.  Watching the game I realize that all these players are wearing very basic equipment.  Lacrosse equipment over the past 5 years has experienced significant technological advances.   The stick and head are just an example of how technology has evolved the sport.  I remember those old gloves that the players are wearing.  Also if you look closely many of them have the palms cut out of the gloves, which today is illegal in NCAA lacrosse.  The cradling of the ball, especially one-handed, is a little different as well and I think that is due to the pockets in the stick.  What is the same is the athleticism.  These players are athletes.  They all run hard and move their feet.  You still need to be athletic to play this game at the highest levels in 1980 and 2010.

Also multiple other things such as smarts, offense and defensive ability. “Not just athleticism”.
