Success for Canadian Women’s Field Players – Sarah Oor

Erin Oor, former Edmonton Outlaw and wily veteran, was able to provide me with an update on the success of his daughter at Limestone College.  Sarah is a freshman attack for the Saints.  There are several great women’s field players in the NCAA, with many of them coming from the Ontario region.  With virtually little women’s field in Alberta there has not been much success from this part of Canada.  We have a good number of women box players, but that has not transferred over to the field game.  Below is the writeup from Erin on Sarah and the Limestone Saints.  Erin currently lives in Ontario and this is where Sarah was able to hone her game after getting a start here in the Edmonton region.  It’s great to see Sarah excel in the NCAA.

The Limestone Women’s Lacrosse Team is off to an excellent start. The Saints entered the season ranked 5th in Division II. After a couple of Conference games and big wins (21-0 over Erskine and 18-4 over St. Andrews) the Saints faced two top 10 teams in a row. After a 12-9 win over Mercyhurst (6th ranked) the Saints moved to No. 4 in the nation. Following 8-7 over No.9 ranked Gannon, and a 11-7 win over Shippensburg (Penn), the Saints were elevated to No.2 overall.

Sarah has started and played every minute of the season to date at attack for the Saints. She has 6 goals and one assist and was named “Top Performer” against Shippensburg. The majority of the games are webcast so we are getting to keep a close eye on how she is doing. After just 5 games you can really see the speed and intensity picking up in her game. There are three Canadians on the Women Saints. The other Canadians hail from Brooklin and Ajax Ontario.

Not bad for a kid raised on good ‘ole Alberta lacrosse!
