The Edmonton Eclipse and the Edmonton Miners met yesterday in an exhibition game in St. Albert.  There were lots of rookies in the lineup and the game was sloppy at times.  There were some good young players that stood out including Ryan Davidge and Davis Reykdal, who were dressed for the Eclipse.  There were several veterans on both teams that were out of the lineup, but that is expected in the first exhibition game of the season.  That did not mean there was no intensity as both teams were well prepared to slash and hack.  When you have a game that is full of dropped balls and miscues, it tends to lead to a game of scrums.  That in itself leads to more dirty play.  I feel as the skill level picks up the game ends up being a lot cleaner.  Let’s hope the season brings some high tempo, highly skilled play at the Junior A level.  Here is a few minutes of action from the game.
