I watched this video several years ago after meeting Russ Sheppard and I watched it again tonight.  A long time has passed since a young Russ Sheppard was in Kugluktuk working as a teacher and helping the youth through lacrosse.  Kyle Aviak, the young man in the video, has since played junior lacrosse in the Edmonton area and is now in Yellowknife working, with a young family.  I think this is an amazing piece put together by ESPN.  It captures how important sport can be for a community and for the young kids involved in the game.  Russ made a huge impact on that community and he had to overcome a lot of barriers to make things happen.  If there is one think I know about Russ is that he can make things happen.  I think we all need reminders once in a while on what is important in life.  This video is another kick in the butt for me to cherish what is good about sports and the game of lacrosse.
