So many lacrosse players in Canada play or at one time played hockey.  There are numerous examples of great hockey players also being great lacrosse athletes.  One such player is Adam Oates who was just recently added into the Hockey Hall of Fame.  I had the great pleasure of playing hockey against Adam Oates when he was dominating the NCAA with RPI.  He was a great player on a great team and his team during that time gave us numerous thrashings.  I learned in a hurry that strong team play with great leaders equals success.  At that point I had no idea of Oates’ lacrosse success.  Adam Oates played for Etobicoke and one year scored 181 points during a 19 game Junior A season.  He also held at one time a record for the most points in a Junior A game with 29.  I don’t know if he still holds that record, but that number of points seems unbelievable.  I don’t know who he was playing against at that time, but the accomplishment speaks about his ability to play lacrosse.

Vimy Lacrosse salutes Adam Oates not for his hockey accomplishments, but more so for his ability to play lacrosse while playing hockey.  He excelled at both sports and was able to balance the demands.  Congratulations from Vimy Lacrosse.  Below you can watch our lacrosse Vimy athletes as they play a little floor hockey and enjoy the opportunity to be an all-round athlete.   You can also see Coach Jimmy Quinlan working on his dangles.
