It’s All About the Journey – Video

An inside look at the University of Virginia’s Mens Lacrosse team during last year’s season.  I have posted small video clips previously and this is the full version of the video.  It is a great look into the rigors of a top end Division I lacrosse team.  There are some very interesting viewpoints and the one that stands out is the look at Rob Fortunato.  Fortunato, a goalie, started one game in his first three years of college lacrosse before being the number one goalie last season.  Fortunato persevered and his resilience paid off.  The interesting part of that discussion was Dom Starsia’s perspective of how that is not how it usually works.  With top end teams there are always good players coming into the system so some players in Fortunato’s position end up never getting an opportunity to play.  Fortunato was able to overcome the odds and for him he was able to rise to the challenge.  In programs such as Virginia’s, the size of the rosters can make climbing the depth chart a very difficult chore.  You definitely need to be in it for the long run and you have to believe in the journey.
