My apologies for not providing an update from our third game against the Miners.

In today’s game against the Raiders it is becoming apparent that defense is our mantra early in the season as we won the game 5 to 3.  Goaltending and stellar defense were the keys to success for the Titans.  The Raiders are a very quick team and even though we left the first period up by a goal I felt we were outplayed by a high tempo Raiders team.  We were a step behind and the Raiders were getting to the net.  Mike DeGirolamo was solid and held the fort as we got our legs into the game.

As the game progressed we got some offense generated as youngsters Tyler Machado and Chris Ulmer contributed in the second as we took a lead on the Raiders.  Our power play had several opportunities throughout the game and even though we had great looks we did not generate enough offense.  We, as coaches see significant progress in the development of the offense.  We are running better plays, now we need to get better at identifying the options.  That is going to take time, but it is nice to see the players starting to figure some things out.

The third period was more of the same, tough defense and teams both fighting to generate offense.  The Raiders pulled to within one mid way through the third period.  Unlike the last time we played the Raiders, the team responded and bounced back with a goal from Dustin Reykdal to get the lead back to two.  We then withstood 2 minutes of 6 on 5 play to secure the win in Okotoks.  After starting slow, we picked up the pace of the game and battled hard for the two points.  It was a great effort that included the first ever box lacrosse game for American Tate Linford.  Team is slowly coming together.  A rested Mounties team awaits us tomorrow.
