The first 45 minutes of the ride was time to settle in and for many of the kids, take a nap.  I was right there with them nodding off in the nice air conditioned bus.  The bus ride was about two hours long as the traffic of the City was slow and tedious.  As we got closer to our destination the kids were starting to awake and take notice of the enormity of the buildings and the city.  I have been to New York City several times, but I hardly can say I know very much about it and I sure could not navigate myself around.

We arrived at our first stop where we picked up our tour guide and then began a circuitous route of the city as we hit all the hot spots; Central Park, Harlem, Upper East Side, Wall Street, Meat Packing District and of course a quick stop off on Canal Street.  On Canal Street a few of our kids were able to see up close and personal a short movie being made.  It definitely would be for many of them one of the highlights of the trip.

We finally made it to Times Square for the last couple of hours of the trip and the kids made it worth their while taking in the numerous sights, making their requisite purchases and eating.  Overall the day was awesome.  The kids got to experience New York City with their friends.  Our bus driver was exceptional, weaving in and out of traffic to get us to our destinations.  The entire day was sensory overload, but that is the Big Apple.  By the end of the day the kids were happy and instead of sleeping on the way back, they were excited taking about what they saw.  It was a great day – fun for all.
