Titans SponsorsWe finally got things going in Game 3 as we opened up our home schedule with a strong 8 – 1 win over the Miners.  Behind solid goaltending and a stingy defensive effort the team was able to muster some offense to get the win.  With some minor adjustments in the practices prior to the game, we were able to implement some changes in our game to offset what the Miners were doing in our first matchup.  Playing a team six times in a season leads to tendencies on both sides.  Film review is a huge part of preparing for the games.  To be effective a team needs to keep the other team off balance and show them different looks.  This is the back and forth you would expect when you battle each other so many times in a season.  A team also needs to be able to execute and improvise.  If a set play is not working can a player make the proper read to find the open man?  This is the part of the game that we need to get better at as well as improve our power play, which struggled in the win.

It was great to see Mike DeGirolamo play a solid 60 minute game.  He has shown glimpses of good play, but this was the Mike we expect on a daily basis.  His angles were solid, he wasn’t chasing the ball and he had a great read on the shooters.  The defense was also strong, really pushing shots from the outside and finishing checks on the inside.   The team was able to feed off the defensive effort and generate offense on the other end of the floor.

This was our first home game and having a good crowd on a Wednesday night was a great sign.  Sherwood Park has the potential to be a hot bed of lacrosse for the future and with such great support from sponsors the Junior A Titans will be a strong club for many years.  A big Thank You to our Silver Sponsors:  Lime Green Realty, Sheppard Insurance and Sherwood Ford and our Bronze Sponsors:  Bold Athletics, Burgett Financial, Sherwood Park Famoso Pizzeria, Ricky’s All Day Grill and Vimy Lacrosse.  Looking forward to more great home games in Sherwood Park.
