Vimy_logo_BigThere are just over 3 weeks left until the Vimy Lacrosse Spring Break Camp and we are happy to announce that Mike DeGirolamo has been added as our goalie instructor for the camp.  Mike was drafted by the Edmonton Rush in 2014 and has played Junior A lacrosse in Alberta for the past four years.  In 2013, Mike played for the Okotoks Raiders and was an integral part of the team that won the provincial title and proceeded to play in the Minto Cup.  Mike worked with the goalies during Vimy’s Winter Lacrosse program and brings a strong technical background of the position.  He has been one of the top goalies in the Alberta Junior A league and has experience at the  National level.  Mike joins Jeff Cornwall and Ryan Dilks of the Edmonton Rush as instructors at this year’s camp.  There are only 30 spots left at the camp and we again are looking at very exciting two days.  To register please click on this link.

Box Lacrosse in the US

So Americans are taking up the box lacrosse game.  That is what happens when a bunch of box players beat the Dream Team.  One thing I know for sure is that the Americans will exploit it, market it, sell it and hype it.  They will also get very good at box lacrosse because Americans love to take something athletic and coach the crap out of it.  They will put together box lacrosse programs, camps and showcases because it is the new flavor.  And their kids will get better at the box lacrosse game.  So the question is, will the Canadians take their box game and make sure the young Canadians keep their competitive advantage over their American counterparts.  Are we relying on the Canadian Lacrosse Association to be the leaders of this box lacrosse resurgence?  If we aren’t careful we may lose some ground.

Some very good points about the college recruiting process with respect to Canadians.  I agree the recruiting process has accelerated too fast and the timeline needs to be pushed back.  That is up to the college coaches to change.  Kids from Ontario can drive 6 or 7  hours to recruiting events.  For Western Canadians the travel can be be prohibitive to get to events where there are college coaches.  What do you think?

watch this guy and play like he plays.  Jordan Wolf is fast, tough and incredibly skilled.  All 5’9″ of him.

downloadDown 2 – 0 in the series the Arrows have pushed back hard with three straight wins.  The skill has become more evident in the past three games as the Six Nations team has fixed some penalty troubles and found the answer to the Coquitlam goalie.  Great lacrosse so far in this series.  The skill level at both ends of the floor is awesome to watch.  Highlights from the last three games are below.
